INTRODUCING COTALTE
Inspired by Nature. 190 GSM
Lyocell is a cellulose fiber that is good for the planet. We took it, meshed it with superior cotton in our own custom blend and processed it for a buttery finish in an Interlock textured knit. It looks soft, feels like you're touching a cloud and is good for your skin and mother earth. Made exclusively in small batches with attention to detail. Below we have outlined the process behind Lyocell and how we went about manufacturing this custom blend fabric that feels like second skin

Stage 1
Eucalyptus Trees
The first stage starts with nature. The eucalyptus tree is the main raw material source for this yarn. Eucalyptus trees grows to a height of 40 metres (131 feet) and do not need artificial irrigation, the use of pesticides or gene manipulation - thus being less harsh on the environment

Stage 2
Wood
The 2nd stage begins with the trees being processed into wood. An important thing to note here is that the trees are not uprooted, rather cut so that they may grow back again. Also, they need very little water to grow and are typically found on land which is unsuitable for agriculture. Less stress on the environment and as sustainable as it gets

Stage 3
Pulp
The 3rd stage involves wood being made into wood-pulp. This bridges the gap between the tree and the end yarn as wood pulp is the main material that is processed to engineer fiber.

Stage 4
Fiber
Just as wood-pulp is derived from wood. Fiber is derived from wood pulp. It is this fiber that is processed further to produce a high quality, environment friendly yarn

Stage 5
Yarn
Lyocell yarn is engineered from fiber. An important thing to note is that the entire system of getting yarn from wood pulp fibers is a closed loop system that recycle all chemicals used. This raw material uses less land and water and is fully biodegradable

Stage 6
Fabric
The resultant end fabric is soft, has a luxurious feel and feels good on the skin. The colour retention of the fabric is much stronger than regular cotton and really does feel like second skin when you wear it. We apply our proprietary Cot-Silk processed to make this fine fabric even softer
